Through the art of photography Kids in Focus programs include experiential learning, reflection, and discussion, paired with dedicated adult mentorship. Our programs provide the tools and framework for leadership and growth. The kids learn creative problem solving and experience the world around them with curiosity and connection.
After School Program
In collaboration with local schools, the Kids in Focus After School Program introduces middle school students to the highly engaging art of photography. Students work closely with a volunteer mentor for 9 weeks learning key principles of photography, exploring the community, and building trusting relationships.
Each Spring their photographs are displayed at our Exhibit Opening celebration. With hundreds of people attending, this public event creates a strong sense of pride and accomplishment for the students. Each student receives a hardbound book of their artwork. These students graduate into the Grads in Focus program.
Taking photos, going outside, and moving around… it helped me manage my emotions.
